Title: "Lily Pollination"
Date: Winter 2005
Creation Time: About 12 hours
Dimensions: 150cm X 150cm (5ft X 5ft)
Style: Abstract chaos painting
Medium: Acrylic paint and black marker
Subject: Abstract depiction of life forms pollinating a lily
Theme: With creation must come destruction.
Aesthetics: This is meant to be viewed close-up due to the many complex, interconnected forms interacting with each other.
Process: In a way, I painted this twice. A year before the completion of this piece, I painted what I considered to be the final product. After deciding I could do better, I painted over the entire canvas, trying to preserve the underlying forms and composition. There was no conscious method involved in the creation of this piece; I set out merely to produce an attractive abstract painting.
