Codename: "Johnny X"
Date: October 2005
Creation Time: About 10 hours
Dimensions: 550px X 400px
Style: Flash animation synched to musical cues
Medium: Macromedia Flash drawing/animating program and Sound Forge sound editing program
Subject: Johnny Mathis, doves, machete blades, and a battery-operated light-up rose
Theme: This is me playing with objects that metaphorically express my general day-to-day emotional tribulations.
Aesthetics: Actions and events are timed to changes in the music.
Process: This piece is not completed; it is merely a trailer for the full-length edition. I created this Flash animation in a somewhat object-oriented fashion. This means I can reuse animated segments and link them to other segments with ease. This allows me to create a wide variety of different animated combinations. The music for this piece is me cutting up a Johnny Mathis record on my turntable. I then brought that recording onto my computer and tweaked the levels.
