Influences:

Heavily influenced by sumi-e artists and calligraphers from Eastern Asia around the 1700s, such as Bada Shanren

Process:

The entire process for this piece spanned over five hours. The goal was to capture the essence of my subject with the fewest amount of brush strokes possible. I went through about forty other renditions of this concept. With each rendition, I removed unnecessary curves and streamlined every part of the composition. This iteration is the product of a long process of deconstruction.
